BBQ Jackfruit Sliders

This is my version of a southern classic - a vegan and healthy, and tasty treat to any picnic or backyard bbq event.

This is my version of a southern classic - a vegan and healthy, and tasty treat to any picnic or backyard bbq event.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans Jack fruit in brine

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 1 tablespoon cumin

  • 1 tablespoon paprika

  • 1 cup bbq sauce

  • 1 tablespoon grape seed oil

  • salt to taste

Steps:

Sautee chopped onions till translucent.  Add the drained jack fruit.  Add the cumin, paprika, bbq sauce and water if needed.  Cook till the jack fruit stats to soften and pull apart.  Remove from heat.  Serve on a toasted bun with additional BBQ sauce, and your favorite fresh veggies.

Notes:

My version is an open-faced sandwich served on mini naan breads, topped with red cabbage.  The BBQ sauce I used in this recipe is the Rufus Teague Whisky Maple sauce.
